Over the past 25 years we have grown many crosses of our Canadian wild hazelnut with the larger hazelnuts from Europe. From the survivors we select the best for their resistance to disease, cold hardiness and nut quality. These Taylor hazelnuts are much better adapted to Canada's colder climates( Zones 2-5) and have shown excellent production of large, very tasty nuts. Best grown as a multi-stemmed 3 metre shrub. Useful in windbreaks, wildlife shelter belts and food forests. PLANT 2 Taylor hazelnuts for CROSS POLLINATION and better production of nuts.
This year we are selling our mature 8 yr old seedling hazels that have been acclimatized to our -35 C winters. We have pruned them back for easier transplanting
