We have several varieties of black sweet cherries that are now surviving our worst winters....unlike the famous Bing variety that freezes out here every winter. You must protect sweet cherries from hungry birds(with netting). The cherries are ready to pick when they start to change colour from red to black...usually late July...but the birds will start pecking them before they are ripe so get net protection on early. All of the selections below are self-fertile ......so will produce fruit without pollination from another cherry tree. However these varieties will cross-pollinate with other sweet cherries like Rainier, Napoleon, Black Duke, etc. All of the varieties below produce large black fruit with firm sweet flesh. The following trees are the most cold hardy for us..worth trying in zones 3-8.

Varieties available spring 2019 are: Tehranivee, Stella, Lapins...$89 each
