We found this century old tree in northern Ontario on an abandoned farm...probably brought over from Europe as an apricot seed and planted. The taste and colour resembled that of a sweet apricot but the juiciness of the flesh indicated a blend of plum which is today called an apricot-plum or "aprium". We reproduced the original tree and now 40 yrs later we want to distribute and thus save this old heirloom for future apricot lovers. We decided to call it Precocious because of its tendency to produce fruit at a very young age. The tree never grows much more than 4 meters tall. The Precocious tree here on our Green Barn farm has taken every winter and climate disaster that nature has thrown its way over the past 40 yrs but the original tree in northern Ontario has now been cut and turned into firewood. Only graft a few trees each year.
