NOVAMAC was developed in Nova Scotia to help Maritime orchardists to grow a Macintosh type apple without sprays. The NOVAMAC apple does not require the many scab disease treatments(sprays) that the McIntosh needs to survive the moist Maritime climate....meaning that it is resistant to apple scab disease.  The flavour and colour of this sweet juicy apple is similar to the Macintosh and the tree stays small for easy picking
